I
am an experienced and registered doula and have been supporting births
for three years, with experience at more than 30 births, both home and
hospital.
My love and passion
for health of the body, mind and soul has led me to train and practice
as a counsellor, aromatherapy and therapeutic massage therapist and body
centred movement therapist.
When I began my doula training, my many different worlds began to merge and complement each other. Today I am blessed to be able to offer my services to women, their partners and families.
When women feel safe and supported throughout pregnancy, birth and early parenting, some amazing transformations can occur.
A little more about me...........
I grew up in a little suburb of Perth, Western
Australia. The eldest of five, our house was always full of family and
breast-feeding aunties.
I have given birth to three children: my first being a hospital birth and my second and third being planned home births. These experiences, together with the births I support, enrich my life.
In
following my interests I have studied relaxation, aromatherapy and
shiatsu massage. I am a teacher of centred body movement therapy, which
explores movement and how this relates us to our internal and external
worlds and everything else in between. It gave me a deeper knowledge and
awareness of breath, the importance of sound release and every day body
movement and visualisation.
I trained as a doula with Rhea Dempsey who is an NACE (National Association of Childbirth Educators) trainer.
I
have a Diploma in Counselling and have seen the many benefits
counselling can bring. Some of these include: debriefing from a previous
birth experience, relationship and family dynamics, early parenting
adjustments and holding a safe space for women to share what is coming to the surface in any given moment.
I am dedicated to continually increasing my knowledge and exploring further aspects of the doula role.
